The smell of Montevideo

Imagine if you will an aromatic camp fire of seasoned hard wood.  Over the fire is a grill with sizzling meat dripping fat which only enhances the aroma.  Well, everywhere you walk in the city you smell this - the parrilla (parrrr-ee-zsha in Uruguay, parrr-ee-ya everywhere else).  Even on the second floor of the nearby shopping center between Burger King and the Mexican burrito place is a restaurant with a roaring wood fired parrilla.  Smoke makes me hungry.  Oh and sometimes Montevideo smells like dog crap (see previous post about dogs).  - Allen
