This morning (10:am) we had a fantastic breakfast with our hosts. Meat and cheese with fresh baggette bread, fresh fruit, cereal with liquid yogurt over it. We went for a walk along the Rambla (road along the cost) and through part of Montevideo. In a park we found and flea market that we took a loop through, lots of interesting stuff.
A couple asked us for directions in Spanish. I guess that says something for how much we don't look out of place. No creepy factor like some places in Mexico, there is occationally someone who is lighter complected than we are.
We eventually found a shopping center near where we are staying and had lunch. There was a McDonalds and a BK nearby but we chose the Chivito instead, similar to the one shown here

I love how you're pointing out the differences in where you are and the tourist places and how you're immersing yourselves so well...but that's the point, right? :)
